I don't know how many of you guys out there have sleep problems/disorders..

I have sleep apnea.. And have had some depression issues in the past.. I don't have depression anymore but am on meds for it and anxiety.

I find my sleep is really bad and can be the source of why I have low T.

With products like ZMA and ARGININE ORNITHINE I go from sleeping 3.5 hrs a night to sleeping 5.5 hrs.. Still 5.5 is too little.. I need to somehow increase that to about 7-8.

I was looking for some sort of supplement. Today I bought melatonin. 3 mg.

I intend to take it at bedtime. Have any of you used it and found it to improve your sleep?

The only thing that concerns me is having difficulty waking up when I need to in the morning or even worse grogginess.

Discuss.

I take 10 mg. It's split between fast-acting and delayed-release, so it's a large dose up front with continued dose over time.

It works alright for sleep. I actually take it for anti-inflammatory benefits, possibly having to do with deficient iron metabolism. I have an autoimmune disease. I can't sleep without it, but the next night after I stop, I can sleep fine.

I'm used to it and can wake up very easily, but that's always been the case with me.

When do you take it? Evening, or immediately before bedtime?

30 min. before bed if I'm home. Otherwise, right before bed. 30 min. before bed is the accepted dosing time.

Try splitting that 3mg pill in half first

Too much of it isn't really bad for you but it can leave you very groggy - this is of course dependent on the person and some at longecity have come to the conclusion that it's entirely genetic. For most people 0.5MG will work just as good as 5MG but not carry over the next day or crease your own natural production.

You'll also want to make sure to turn off all light sources, melatonin is produced by your body when it doesn't detect any light on the blue wavelengths. Monitors, tvs, laptops, etc can all disturb your own natural production if you leave them on. Try to completely sleep in the absolute pitch dark.

It's very likely, if you've got an hour to kill I'd suggest taking a listen to this podcast on the relation of sleep and testosterone

I am going to try 1.5 mg tonight just 30 min before bedtime.. Didn't get a chance to check out the video but I will soon enough.

Try not to eat post-melatonin supplementation. Some studies show it can fuck up insulin sensitivity.

1.5 mg melatonin was disaster. Sure I slept 1.5 hrs longer but woke up irritable , groggy and unable to think clearly since 6 am. It is now 5 pm and I'm still affected by it.

I don't think it's wise for me to fuck up my brain like this again .

Do you think it's worth me breaking pill into a quarter this time and trying again ? I have sleep apnea and am on meds for anxiety. I have also had depression in past though that is under control over last 2 years with meds.

I have been thinking. I'm taking melatonin because I'm not sleeping. It's tiring me out and relaxing me to the point I can't even fathom having sex. This compounded with low t implies a different solution to get sleep.

Solution: eat more red meat. I don't consume enough. Red meat 3xweek plus more weight training will tire the body helping me sleep more , look better and increase test increasing sex drive and desire.

I have been avoiding red meat for a while but realize it may be the missing link.

The only downside is cholesterol which is where weight traing 3x week comes in.
