I have Swoon in vanilla. I think the vanilla scent PT uses is way to strong and a bit sickish. (maybe has to be to cover the mone stench) I couldn't stand it.

Today messing around I found that Molecule 01/Iso E super tames that aggressive vanilla blast quite well.

I might start using vanilla oil + iso e for everything now.

wore m3x last night with Terre d' Hermes which is normally a really nice, classy cologne.

The two together smell like piss.

Have been doing this for years. Ladies love the vanilla comboed with the iso e.
Me usually apply swoon vanilla scent then spray over with iso e cologne.

There are actually hundreds of different edt or edp. It's quite hard to believe that non fits you or is repulsive to the ladies in you life. The problem is to find the right stuff. What you smell in the shop when testing is the short lived head note which is imho completely insignificant, because when you're in public it is gone. In order to get a nonrepulsive perfume you need to invest some money, there is rarely a good perfume for less than an 30 - 50 bucks minimum. All the alternatives mentioned are actually perfume ingredients.
While I'm far from being experienced in the field, I played around with Iso E Super, Hedione and Galaxolide, which form together the Grojsman accord. Also vanillin mixed with birch tar make a quite manly cover. But here we are again in the field of perfumes and I doubt that a amateur can do it better than the professionals. There are lots of nice niche products as well.
And it is worth to keep in mind that IES and hedione are pheromonic substances by themselves and influence the diffusion, so they are likely change the effect of the mones.
