Vit d3 good or bad?
01-30-2018 1:34 PM

I've heard good things about the d3 vitamin esp in winter when people experience lowered mood and test due to lack of sunlight in the northern hemisphere.

However, I've had to stop my intake of 1000 IU over the past 3 days...

I noticed I was sweating too much, was becoming severely dehydrated on days I took it despite consuming 12-16 cups of water, and I noticed increased urination... Like a lot... I was experiencing a decrease in height by as much as .5 to .75 inch... I also noticed my older injuries like my neck, low back, seem to hurt more as the water must of been not retaining as well in the cartilage of my spine... (A common reason people get shorter with age).

Kinda sad I had this experience. I also found this interesting article which says I'm not alone in this:

Get a blood test to see your levels. Also I'm not sure if there is any true need of so much water.

They've done studies you know...60% of the time, it works every time

It's almost as if I have excessive thirst while on it. I also have an anxiety disorder so I don't know if other meds are interfering. I have since stopped the intake of d3.

If you can overlook the fact that this guy is a vegan and is against all meat/dairy/eggs then this video may be of interest to this topic. It is about the optimal dose of Vitamin D supplements.

+2 on having your levels checked....We are all different and our bodies react differently to the same supplement. Have your blood sugar checked too and your A1C.

Excessive thirst can be a sign of diabetes. It was for me.

This sounds totally like type II diabetes onset. Have an A1C done immediately. You can get your D level drawn at the same time.

Consider anxiety a by-product of some OCD spectrum and potential hormone imbalance.

Also be aware that despite the tiny amounts of steroids in pheromones, they can also interact in ways that introduce more anxiety.

But treat the main thing: your symptom sound very much like diabetes.

I don't normally have excessive thirst... I drink just 6-8 cups of water a day... But I had excessive thirst only for 2 days while on Vit D. I will check it out though... Thanks!

This is realy interesting. I am health care professional in my own practice and recommend vit d.
I am also taking Vit D most of the time all over the year not only in winter time. There are tons of books about vit d and i visited some seminars. Vit d is probably more a hormone than a vitamin. Integrated in many metabolic processes.
Imho your dosis is too high and this causes the problems you get.
My wife and i taking 5600 I.E. per WEEK in one dosis. Here in europe there is a well designed pill with sunflower oil for best absorption.

Because the body can store it there is no need for daily intake.

I did a quick search in the net an found that product which seems to be well designed if you are in the US.

But only one pill a week not daily!!! In your case maybe all two or three weeks if you still get side effects.

My wife and i never had a winter blues again since we are supplementing D3. Also the immune system is working much better and we are not so prone to infection. Supplementing D3 is a good thing. Never had any issues here in my practice so far.
Lower your dose and all should be fine. Yes

And a medical checkup all two years is always advised.

I love it when a plan comes together
