I didn't realize how much I miss and rely on this forum for its great information until the server went down.. Things we take for granted. Glad to see it back up!

Awesome! Also, I had to clear all my browsing data/cookies or whatever (not so techy) before I could go back on even though it was available. I only realized it was back up when I tried to access the site from my phone

You can always access it through "cached" on google. It's a bit of a hassle, but the archives are there if you want to look something up etc. You have to know what you're looking for though.
And I also realized I spend waaayy too much time browsing.


I had no idea that there had been physical break ins. I hope there will be enough evidence so there will be legal and commercial consequences for the people behind.

Seriously, if this is some deliberate pattern does anyone have a clue what's going on here? I know what a DDOS is, but I'm not sure how difficult it is to execute. Some script kiddie over in Turkey infects a bunch of machines with trojans and uses them to ping a site to death?

Is this a competitor? Government? Shakedown?

It's a little more than a script kiddie, cause at least for us we were getting hit with over 3,000 TCP connections per second coming from at least hundreds of I.P.'s. But, there's no shortage of assholes offering DDoS for hire services, and at least in one instance it appears that there may be FBI involvement and cooperation with the website offering their services.

These are definitely targeted attacks aimed at websites revolving around pheromones, so yeah I'm guessing they are being initiated by someone in the industry and I'm trying to keep a watch out to see if any other sites get hammered.
