Thanks for calling this to our attention. I posted a comment on the article. To me, it equates thinking that the reason for MHC choice is an odor choice, with thinking that something else might be driving the choice. Oh, look! We think it's the sense of smell!

Duh, of course it's the sense of smell. No research suggests it's anything else. No animal model suggests it's anything else. I published a book about this in 1995. Still waiting to read a book that tells us how any animal chooses to mate for genetic diversity based something other than olfactory/pheromonal input.
