Take the Aspie Quiz
01-01-2012 6:27 PM

Guys, please humor me... Take this online test and post your results (if you are comfortable posting):

For those of you who don't know, I'm part aspie... Which is part of the reason I became so interested in pheromones for social enhancement in the first place, and decided to make it my career.

Are you part Aspie? Answer 150 questions and find out. Im really interested to know ; p

2soon2care, the graph means you are very high intelligence (we already knew that) and well rounded in the sense of neurotypical thinking.

Jaycee, it means you are a very social and strongly communicative person, insightful, generally a cool dude : )

A high neurotypical talent score means you are intelligent in a way that allows you to work with others... Usually scientists, researchers...

High aspie talent score means you are very intelligent in certain, specific, weird ways.. Very narrow but intensely focused interests.. Inventors, hackers, etc..

Usually freelance geniuses fall into high aspie talent category.. Bill gates, Einstein, etc..

Not to hijack your thread too much, but ... one of the most amusing things about our society today is its declaration of the importance of recognizing 'diversity', provided such minority culture, 'diverse' additions to the wondrous mix conform in all most of the ways that matter to monolithic norms of the 2011 anglosphere.

There are many ways of thinking and experiencing the world, and it seems to me that we medicalize and disprivilege those that don't easily fit within prevailing bureaucratic structures. So a child with brilliant visual capabilities that requires some adaptation to general teaching customs to learn to read, or takes longer to learn, is correctly though to require a different bureaucratic path (if he must be taught within the bureaucracy), diagnosed as dyslexic, and having a deficiency and disorder of some sort - a label that certainly will not boost his morale, and one which may follow him around all his life. But it may well be that the trait that makes him struggle to learn to read is the same trait that leads to visuo-spatial brilliance, and the capacity to become an eminent architect. And the same may apply, in different ways, to others with unusual personality traits.

Now this is not to say that there may not be some observable difference between two groups in brain scans, blood tests, and in appropriate kinds of medical, nutritional and educational support. But I do wonder whether the use of a bureaucratized medical paradigm exclusively best serves the interest of people with such traits, and indeed society more generally. Some traditional societies have rather different and, perhaps in certain respects, more adaptive ways of handling human differences.

No objection to the test itself in this context (which I haven't time to take right now).

From my first career in genetics, I'm pretty much of the mind that a large portion of the autism spectrum is an evolutionary leap in our biology (punctuated equilibrium theory) as well as an extreme challenge in our social evolution that seems to be working out pretty well - we've mostly moved past eugenics as a global society and the support systems to keep high-functioning folks integrated as contributing members of our culture and gene pool is moving forward rapidly.

Thank you for filling out this questionnaire.

Your Aspie score: 93 of 200
Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 127 of 200
You seem to have both Aspie and neurotypical traits
