You'll see them advertised in magazines and on the Internet, pheromone-based perfumes and colognes to attract the opposite sex.  But a new book by a Penn researcher says, scientifically, the claims stink.

I think it's just really hard for some people to accept that they may not have as complete control over their bodies as they would like to imagine. Pheromones imply that we are not 'special' by being to 'consciously' choose, but rather just like any other animal. God forbid we realize we're just really smart mammals and not some super organism.

Or..maybe there really isn't scientific evidence, but a lack of evidence doers not mean it couldn't happen. From my experience, either I'm experiencing the most intense placebo effects or these pheromones actually do something.

"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma... which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary."

A draft copy of an opinion/review of the Penn Prof's book "The great pheromone myth" is available at Pheromones.com
