This video is god awful propaganda.

Who cares if those doctors didn't show up with lab coats? Everyone knows its a photo op. Besides, no one gets within 1000 feet of the president if they aren't a supporter in some sense. Mixing in ad hominem attacks with actual factual critiques is a time honored tradition, but it doesn't do any of the work of "deconstructing" the ACA.

Part of what the ACA did was to mandate that a percentage of your premiums go directly to healthcare costs, and NOT to overhead, administrative costs, and profit margins. It also requires an increase in benefits for most individuals. The insurers are free to pass the cost of those benefits on to the consumer, so long as the cost is rising in line with the benefits provided.

As to that whole bit about taxation. First of all, it's really disingenuous to take quotes from Supreme Court oral argument out of context. Questions asked by justices are often designed so as to be hard to discern the true question.

Then the big bad booming sound effects as a black screen rolls, and then "As a Tax the IRS will be used to enforce compliance." when the bill specifically states that the IRS will have no mechanism for enforcement.

And here's , which, on page 131, details the methods by which the IRS can pursue enforcement.

If you're savvy, there's no reason that the individual mandate will ever negatively affect you if you don't want it to.

All of that was to prove a point: don't fucking listen to the guy on the radio telling you that you'll go to jail for not having insurance. You don't even have to pay a fine. All it takes is to get off the couch, turn off the boob tube, and get involved in the processes of your life.

In closing, I am sorry to throw a wrench in what is otherwise a very glossy and well-put-together video. But it's utter shit.

I'm from Europe and I don't know enough of the American political system to give my opinion if I would want to, which I don't.

Today I saw a documentary of a brother and sister who where torn apart from their family because they had to run for their life in the Burundi genocide of 1993 ( ). After twenty years, for the first time they saw each other again...at a secret place...

This same scenario happened to many many families in my country in World War 1 and 2, included my family.

You may ask, what has this got to do with the "Obamacare"? Well, what has Fukushima got to do with the States? In my opinion, nothing and everything.

Propaganda isn't new, propaganda is from all ages, the Nazi's were experts in it, they even had a Ministry of Propaganda, and so were the Sovjets and the communist party in China... In fact all dictatorships had/have propaganda machines. ( ) ( )

Now you can ask yourself if the U.S. is still a democracy or a dictatorship? And if so, who exactly dictates who? At that point one is not far away from conspiracy theories.

Strange to write this on the day JFK was shot dead 50 years ago...

Now, as an ordinary citizen, what to do then?

My answer: do your best, forget the rest.

There's propaganda and anti-propaganda, there's general results and exceptions, and no one person should try to convince other of what is right without an objective view based on both positive and negative facts. This being said, it should be noted that this is just my opinion on pretty much every large debate out there.
