Erox has been operating in the red since its inception. The only thing new is that they had finally started making some money for a change.

The gross sales number are a little misleading. Their operating margins must have changed considerably in a year.

They would have shown a nice profit if they had not decide to put that profit and 1/3 of their reserves into buying back about 30% of their outstanding stock. They've bought back about 1.375 million shares. You've gotta do that slowly, especially on a thinly traded stock, to keep from driving the price up. And you sure wouldn't want to show a profit or your share price would takeoff and that buyback program would get pretty expensive. Choosing to show a lose would tend to suggest that they going to continue the buybacks.

They've actually had a pretty decent year and have lowered their operating costs considerably. And they still have no debt.

Might actually be a pretty decent investment.

OK This is a veeery thinly traded stock. Notice the volume in the bottom box. There are days no tades at all. EROX is not traded on any organized exchange. This what's called a bulliten board stock that is sold over the counter.

Very risky business. No liquidity. You can not get out just any old time you want to. You could get stuck in a position. And the reporting requirements to the SEC are alot lower than exchange traded stocks. Bogus financials are very common.

The bottom box shows the volume traded. All those spikes are the buybacks. Every time there is a spike in volume the price goes up. Buyers. They would buy until the price went to 25 cents and then stop. Looks like the last buyback was mid June. Maybe they're done.

See the little block of volume at the end of July? Every day for a week there 10,000 shares traded. These were sales because the price keeps coming down. They were selling from 22 cents all the way down to the last trade at 15 cents. Almost no trades in Augst. Even at 15 cents which should historically be an attractive price.

Until yesterday. Look for a selloff tommorow.

These are generally insiders trading back and forth. Without a continuous volume of trades, it very easy, and very common for big traders to heavily influence price. (It's not polite to say manipulate. lol)

Don't go anywhere near this thing. You're better off putting your money into bubble gum for the trading cards.

Human Pheromone Sciences Announces Second Quarter Results
THURSDAY, AUGUST 13, 2009 3:10 PM
- PR Newswire

SAN JOSE, Calif., Aug 13, 2009 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Human Pheromone Sciences, Inc. (EROX) ("HPS" or "the Company") today announced results for the three and six months ended June 30, 2009. For the three month period ending June 30, 2009, net revenues of $224,000 represented a 5% decrease from the revenues of $236,000 in the prior year period, and resulted in a net loss of $84,000 ($0.02 per share) as compared with a net loss of $88,000 ($0.02 per share) for the same period of 2008. For the six month period ending June 30, 2009, net revenues of $389,000 were 23% lower than the previous year's $502,000, resulting in a net loss of $265,000 ($0.06 per share) as compared with a net loss of $151,000 ($0.04 per share) in the first six months of 2008. At June 30, 2009, the Company reflected cash balance of $542,000 compared with $907,000 at December 31, 2008. The cash use was within the expectations of the Company. There was no bank indebtedness at either date.

According to a Company spokesperson, "the slight decrease in revenues for the quarter is attributable to reduced revenue recognition from a previously signed license agreement, slightly offset by increases in U.S. and International sales of pheromones. The growth in pheromone sales is a result of a new licensing agreement signed for the use of our patented technology in Taiwan, and the expansion of our agreement with an additional U.S. subsidiary of the international chemical and consumer giant Schwarzkopf and Henkel, Dial Corporation." A slight increase in research expense in the quarter was offset by an 8% reduction in other operating expenses, resulting in a $4,000 lower loss in the current year's quarter.

Human Pheromone Sciences, Inc. is a technology-based company, whose proof-of concept products included prestige-priced fragrances and toiletries and environmental products sold under the Natural Attraction®, REALM®, innerREALM® and EROX® trademarks. These products contain mood-enhancing compounds, whose efficacy has been validated at leading universities around the world, and whose use is covered under United States and foreign patents. The Company is also involved in research and product development efforts on new compounds that have been previously identified as stimulating the emotional centers of the human brain. Further information is available on line at .

The statements in this news release may contain forward-looking statements that involve risks and uncertainties that could cause results to differ from predicted results. Further information on factors that could affect the Company's results is detailed in the Company's annual report to shareholders on Form 10-K for the year ended December 31, 2008, and Form 10-Q for the three and six months ended June 30, 2009, as filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The Company undertakes no obligation to publicly release the result of any revisions to these forward-looking statements.

Have no fear. These are the folks whose putative human pheromones (e.g., androstadienone) reportedly acted via a non-functional human VNO. Their profitability is continuing to fall prey to the truth.
The truth: there will always be human pheromones, but they can't act via a non-functional organ. It's not the economy that's the problem, it's the failure of their marketing claims.

I dont know whether the VNO is totally functional or not. I dont think its a marketing ploy either. There research site is not connected to natural attraction in a obvious manner. Most consumers would never catch on they are related in any way. If it was marketing it would be much more apparent. They have a good product that works despite their opinion on the VNO. I use it all the time. While there is a small handful of consumers in the world with interest in the scientific side of pheromones most consumers dont. They simply want a product that does what it claims to do. I dont think anyone's work should be discredited just because they sell a product or before that research is completed. Nor should all of their research be discredited because they discover along the way that there are other pathways and receptors and that the VNO is nonfunctional. While the pathway is important, the effect on the brain, whether from a VNO or other natural pathways to the human brain is the main focus.

To me science is about the combined human effort to understand. Its about change, modifying and previously accepted conclusions , theory, discovery, trial and error. Its not truth or certainty. Its the exploration for the truth and certainty. I was taught that a person's admission of uncertainty doesn't mean they're wrong. A person who admits some uncertainty in their thinking is often closer to the truth, or at least understands the issues better, than someone who claims absolute certainty. Shouting loudest does not produce truth. I know that in modern science nothing if certain until its published in a peer reviews study but again I feel that is more ego related. Many a published study has been proven wrong along the way. It doesn't take away from the published persons contribution to the understanding of science and the world. Relying only on these studies closes the door to discovery and science in my opinion.
