Chattahoochie NF? Bet it was near perfect. I'm a little north of there but last weekend was pretty...rain ever since then though.

The Smokies are beautiful! Way back when, I used to drive between Nashville and Knoxville every week and down to Gatlinburg every now and then.

Here's a song that reminds me of those mountans!

The third verse is:

And the sun is shinin'
This road keeps windin'
Through the prettiest country
From Georgia to Tennessee
And I got the one I love beside me
My troubles behind me
I'm alive and I'm free
Who wouldn't wanna be me

The older I get the less threatening a life sentence sounds

Sympathy for the Devil only results in victimized angels.

I wore out a set of brakes driving through the Smokies... shined them right up.

Part of the ride was along the Ocoee River, just across the TN border both Saturday and Sunday. Perhaps some of you have seen the video from the rock slide yesterday; it was on the route I took.

When I rode through this area six years ago, I liked it so well I moved here from Denver --after 27 years in the West.

Looks like another good weekend coming up!

LOL. That rockslide just leaves the National Park roads and the dragonstail as the only roads into TN south of Knoxville. I 40 is blocked and now 64.

I'm beginning to feel even more isolated. TN 68 (runs through a National Park) to and from I-75 is the recommended detour from this side of the slides. Perhaps I should take my F-150 and go to help them pick up some of the smaller rocks.

Ah... making me homesick. I'm originally from Atlanta, but moved out here to Washington 6 years ago. The Pacific Northwest is beautiful country to be sure, but I miss the Fall colors in the North GA mountains and the comparably drier Winters. Of course, it seems the last year down there has been wetter than normal. One day, I'm going to be back. Hopefully sooner than later.

In the early 90's my intent was to settle in the Eugene/Springfield area of Oregon, and spend winters on the coast (in Brookings). I ended up staying in Las Vegas for another decade. After 30 years in the West, I was so impressed with the greenery of this hill country, that I didn't hesitate to move here. No regrets!
