So I'm well on my way to making my own smells. I was hoping a few of you could jump in on ratio and mixes.

Things I Own (pic):

Base- Everclear, , .

EOs- , , , , , .

Other Scents- Knock off oils:

Sample of the real versions of the high end colognes. For comparison purposes and big nights out.

Real animal musks- ...




What Im hoping to accomplish:

I want an awesome blend with a long throw. I find myself slightly allergic to mainstream scents so I want to make my own. Everyone who is famous has there own scent, why not me! Ultimately I want a blend of EOs, real musks, and a base... and then 'mones over the top of them. What do you think?

If anyone would like to jump in that would be great. My biggest concern is the ratio. I'm not sure how to mix the Everclear, DPG, and silkbase.

My first mix was amazing. Took a 5ml spray bottle. 2mls of everclear, 1ml of DPG, .5ml of fake angle for men and little less than .5 of anise oil. This smell is amazing. My GF agreed.

I'm going to use this kinda like a journal and post my results. I appreciate all the help!!!

I wore this out with a friend yesterday... I added 3 sprays of glace and two of captain. After about an hour we went for a drive. A one point he stuck his nose into my armpit and asked about my scent. Weird right? I told him it was a new cologne I was working on. He took a long smell and said he liked it. Hes not one for compliments. I would say this first blend is good!

So far of the small sample I've taken its been unanimous that the CC X mixed with Anise in similar ratios as above is the best smelling. I walked into a buddy's home and the first thing out of his mouth was, "Jesus, you smell great." I was still in the door way.

I now want to work on the ratio of Everclear, DPG, and Silk to get the most range out of it. Any ideas?

I asked the company I bought the products from about the silk. They said it can be used in place of the alcohol and mixed with DPG. I'm going to try a mix of that this week.

I've gotten the mixes to smell great but am failing at longevity. They suggested that it was my nose getting burnt out on the smell. While I understand thats a real thing. It seems after about two hours others loose the smell too. I'm might just need to reapply.

Is it bad to go cover, then 'mone, then cover a few hours later?

My understanding of cologne mixing is that the diffusion is the most involved aspect of this craft. You not only have to have good distance and duration, but you have to create the right amount of sillage which links the scent to you. Otherwise you are just a walking air freshener.

There are some posts on discoverxs.com where SteveO discusses his experiments with different diffusion technologies using scent. That would be a good place to start.

If that is not enough, you may want to get involved in another forum for people that specialize in mixing colognes and perfumes.

Interesting. Have you tried steve's diffusion tech? I'm not opposed to buying some sense I'm making small batches.

Seems like a lot of people are talking about Iso e Super. I'll keep wading thru all this knowledge. Feel free to drop a link if there is something I need to read.

It's funny the more I read, the more I think I should just buy brand name products. I have the money but wanted to make a blend of known aphrodisiac EOs and real musks. I find in other industries that the mass produced stuff of any level of quality rarely matches what you can make with high end ingredients. But it seems I might have bitten off more than I can chew here.

Bought a few more things...

5ml sample of escentric molecules molecule 01

1ml of .

1ml each of


My plan is to take 5 5ml sprayers and make 5 scents using the Iso e super and Pheromone-4 musk. So, 1ml of molecule 1, .2ml of P-4, 1ml-ish of cover scent oil, fill is some combo of alcohol, silk, and DPG. Shake for two weeks and hope for the best. I'm gonna play around with the other musks later. I have monolaurin saved on my Amazon cart for purchase soon!

Sound about right? Anything one should do differently? About $80 going into it... Thats just the new products! Kinda don't want to miss on this one.
