Just my 2 cents but "being alpha" is a state of mind. It's up to you to own your happiness and leave behind all the envy, negativity, jealously, complaining, worry and victim mentality that plagues so many people.

An alpha male has the following traits:
- doesn't apologize for being a guy
- won't allow any man or women to walk all over him,
- stands up for what he believes in
- has 100% control over his emotions
- doesn't settle, he wants to take life by the horns
- doesn't seek the approval from others
- very career driven and excels to be #1
- doesn't really take himself too serious
- would never put anyone down to prop himself up
- last but not least alpha males are always positive!

The alpha mindset all starts in your head. I myself use subs and always very careful on how I choose my words and behave. Years ago I was a pathetic beta and I quickly changed that shit 360 degrees. I can see how little things bother me now that would eat away at me back then.

My best advice for anyone that's struggling from being beta, 1) get into the mindset that you owe it to yourself to be happy and change 2) forgive yourself for anything that happened to you that was negative

I don't believe that anyone can be strictly put into an alpha or beta box. Human characters, personalities and cultural factors are so diverse that we can only be partially orientated one way or the other.

I do believe that we should all try to improve ourselves, but to the frame where we want to be, as opposed to a textbook style PUA or "man-yourself-up" rigid frame. And where we want to get to with this self improvement is as individual as we are.

According to the textbooks, alpha males are individual and experimental minded. Yet according to those same textbooks, they must follow a strict code, formulated for every single male who walks the planet in order to get to be that alpha male. Then he must continue to adhere to those rules or otherwise he will fall into the wuss trap once again and his life will return to being meaningless. Am I the only one who can see the irony?

Sometimes we waste so much time and energy analyzing and worrying about ourselves, or trying to be someone who we are not, that we forget to live. None of us are going to escape this life alive. So be exactly who you want to be, alpha, beta, Dr. Evil or anything else.

It could also be argued that this topic is of interest to MEN in general which is why it is fine being posted here in the men's section of the board.
