Cover Scents Application
11-02-2012 12:08 PM

I need some help with cover scents.

1. Is it safe to spray an alcohol cover scent over an oil, silicone, or alcohol based Pheromone?
2. Is it safe to apply an oil based cover scent (like The Fragrance Shop) over an oil, silicone, or alcohol based Pheromone?
3. Is it better to apply the pheromone or cover scent last?
4. Are alcohol or oil based cover scents better in regards to pheromone usage?

Thanks in advance......Smile

1. Alcohol doesn't degrade pheromones, so it's considered safe.
3. Most people in the forum apply the pheromone, wait 10 min and then apply the coverscent.

Some alcohol based fragrances contain fixatives that will affect diffusion. You can see everything from the alcohol speeding the difusion to the fixative slowing it down.

Oil I'm not so sure about. I would imagine they would have less of an impact on the diffusion of the 'mones.

Some people do the cover scent before, some after. I usually do the coverscent afterwards but not always. Doesn't seem to matter.

I use both oil and alcohol based scents. Oil clings close. Alcohol projects. Which is the tool for the job? Depends.

I think I remember Shelly posting that if you're going to use an oil based cologne i.e. fragrance shop then you should apply that first, let it dry down then add the phero's after. If you spray alcohol based mones on then cover them with oil I think it will stop them diffusing correctly.

My opinion: I spray an alcohol cover scent on FIRST, then apply unscented mones on top of that.

If I'm covering oil mones with oil scent, I apply the 2 very near each other on the skin. I don't think mixing on the skin will hurt or help here.

In general, I like to put the scent down first and the mones down on top of that.

Oil vs alcohol is a matter of opinion and depends on the situation. Alcohol is good for cold and oil is good for the heat. Even TFS oil versions of Creed are missing that little something, so if you like Creed you'll be better off with the real thing, which is alcohol based.

I don't like to spray any alcohol on top of oil or silicon, so I will apply alcohol first if I'm using different bases.

The only issue with applying the mones after the cover scent is that in some cases, the mones need to be close to your skin......for example OD gel from LAL.
