That is due to the CloudFlare security which is now set back on high and the area that you are located.

Could someone explain why this is so random. Some times i can log on no problem, then a second later i can't see anything.

it seems that after a period of inactivity you will have to go thru the captcha again

I have lowered the CloudFlare captcha verification frequency requirement substantially, so you folks won't have to reverify anywhere near as often. I hate having to use the captcha at all, but like the alternative even less.
