Caffeine Withdrawal
05-08-2019 10:35 AM

I never realized how severe this could be.

My doc told me my BP was on the high side.

I realize before I try meds etc I want some lifestyle changes.

I was downing 6 cups of coffee a day.. Sometimes a pepsi too. WITH sugar.

I did what I considered a good thing. I quit coffee for only 1.5 days cold turkey.

What I found was at first migraines and headaches.. Now dizziness in mornings when walking..,

I had neither problem before stopping the coffee/caffeine.

I understand the most common cause of dizziness is low blood sugar. I made sure to have a fruit bowl, but it didn't help.

I'm going back up to 3-4 cups a day (I was at 6) then gradually lowering to 1-2 where I want to stay.

I started weaning myself by going half regular and half de-caf. Then increased the decaf until it was all de-caf.
de-caf still has some caffeine I know

some recommend drinking roasted dandelion tea

I've quite coffee several times. I have not had any caffeine in many weeks.

The first time I quit a years back, the headaches were absolutely the worst and I felt wiped out for an entire week and didn't feel quite right for many weeks. I was drinking coffee earlier this year and I quit again. This last time around when I quit I didn't even get a headache and I was back to normal in a few days. I think it's different every time.

I used 500mg Tyrosine each morning and didn't get any withdrawal side effects. I usually get really bad migraines when quitting cold Turkey.

Yes. Despite the fact that decaf contains very little caffeine, it still can cause cortisol hormone to rise, even into the evening for some sensitive individuals. This just goes to show that other naturally occurring chemicals in coffee can also cause cortisol to rise.

quit coffee (6-7 cups a day) about 3 years ago. worst month of my life. the withdrawal is no different than that of heavy narcotics. I was never on narcotics but have spoken to those who were and what they told me happen to them, happen to me. cold turkey is the best way to go, it sucks but you need to stick it out. weaning off does not work for most, they normally go right back or just keep drinking lower amounts until they are eventually back where they started. you need to stop it and be done with it and a few weeks or worse like me a month later your life will improve. I now have more energy than anyone i know that drinks coffee. I no longer consume stimulants at all and i feel amazing! if you want true energy, go get a fresh juice. wish you the best, stay strong.

There was a time when I drank over 20 cups of coffee a day at work (NEVER keep a coffee pot in your office!). Now I have, at most, 2 cups in the morning.

Current Arsenal:

Alter Ego, Chikara, Scent of Eros, Perception, Edge, Imprint, THU, Unresistable, Treasure Shine, TUTH, TAC, P83, GOA, LIIK, NPA, The Love God, and a dozen or so others from LPMP.
