This blew me away and I thought it worth sharing:

The father of a girl who had just died from cancer was moving things around in her room and was “blown away” by what he discovered.
Still reeling from Athena’s death just days before, Dean found this on the back of her full-length mirror:



The board includes 19 important messages that all of us can take to heart:

2. Maybe it’s not about the happy ending, maybe it’s about the story.

7. Be happy, be free, believe, forever young.
8. You know my name, not my story.
9. You have heard what I've done, but not what I've been through.
10. Love is like glass; looks so lovely, but it’s easy to shatter.
11. Love is rare, life is strange, nothing lasts and people change.
12. Every day is special, so make the most of it.
13. You could get a life-ending illness tomorrow so make the most of every day.
14. Life is only bad if you make it bad.
15. If someone loves you then they wouldn't let you slip away no matter how hard the situation is.
16. Remember that life is full of ups and downs; without the downs the ups don’t mean anything.
17. I’m waiting to fall in love with someone I can open my heart to.
18. Love is not about who you can see spending your future with, it’s about who you can’t see spending your life without.
19. Life is a game for everyone but love is the only prize.


Her father told the Leicester newspaper:
She was a very spiritual person, she'd go on about stuff that I could never understand – she was so clever.

When I moved the mirror after she died I couldn't believe it, I saw all this writing – it must have been about 3,000 words.

I started reading it but before long I had to stop because it was too much – it was heartbreaking.

Her cancer was discovered this past December and despite aggressive treatment, it proved too much. Fortunately, the family has this very special message from her to accompany their memories.
